How to get to the Science in the City festival
Transport details updated for 2026
This year, the festival takes place across three venues in Valletta, with the programme split across two different dates:
Main Street Festival
25–26 September 2026, 6pm to 11pm
Triton Square, Valletta
Performance Festival & Workshops
6 November 2026, 6pm to 10:30 pm
7 November 2026, 11am to 9:30 pm
Sala San Duminku & Duttrina, Valletta
Whether you are joining us in September or November, we strongly encourage you to make public transport your first choice when travelling to the festival. Choosing public transport helps us reduce the environmental impact of the festival and makes getting to and from Valletta easier and more sustainable.
For the Main Street Festival on 25–26 September, Transport Malta will also be providing additional night bus services after 23:00, making it easier for festival-goers to stay until the end of the programme and return home by public transport.
Triton Fountain
Vjal Nelson, Il-Belt Valletta
- Triton Fountain is located just outside City Gate. Triton Fountain extends onto Biskuttin Garden, a promenade which extends from the Triton Fountain towards Floriana.
Keep in mind that due to other events happening in the same area, there might be excessive noise and congestion on the streets.

Travelling by Ferry/Barrakka Lift
From Sliema Ferry Terminal to Triton Fountain
From the Sliema Ferry, Valletta Terminal, head towards the main road and turn right onto Triq il-Lanċa (Boat Street). Continue uphill along Triq il-Lanċa and then turn left onto Triq San Mark (St Mark Street). Continue along Triq San Mark and turn right up the stairs onto Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli (M.A.Vassalli Street). Follow this way until the end of the stairs and turn left onto Triq Nofsinhar (South Street). Continue along Triq Nofsinhar until you reach Triq ir-Repubblika (Republic Street). Turn right onto Republic Street and continue straight towards City Gate. Triton Fountain is located directly outside City Gate, next to the main bus terminus.
From Three Cities Ferry Terminal to Triton Fountain
From the Three Cities Ferry, Valletta Terminal at Lascaris Wharf, follow Xatt Lascaris left towards Valletta. through a short tunnel and continue towards It-Telgħa tal-Kurċifiss (Crucifix Hill). Follow the road uphill and turn right up the stairs onto Sqaq Harper (Harper Alley). Continue until the end of the stairs, turn left onto Triq John Lopez and follow the road with the Monument tal-Gwerra (War Monument) to your left. Continue past the monument and follow Vjal Nelson around the roundabout towards the Triton Fountain. The fountain is located at the end of Vjal Nelson, just outside Valletta City Gate, next to the main bus terminus.
From Three Cities Ferry Terminal to Triton Fountain via the Barrakka Lift
From the Three Cities Ferry Terminal at Lascaris Wharf, follow Xatt Lascaris left towards Valletta through a short tunnel. The Barrakka Lift is located on the right-hand side. Take the lift up to the Upper Barrakka Gardens.
From there, walk through the Gardens and exit onto Castille Street. Continue along the street until you reach the Ġorġ Borg Olivier Monument. Keeping the monument on your right, continue onto Pope Pius V Street. Continue until you reach the stairs, then walk up the steps towards Republic Street.
Once you reach Republic Street, turn left and continue towards City Gate. The Triton Fountain will be directly ahead of you.
Sala San Duminku
St Dominic’s Theatre – Merchant’s Street, Valletta
- Walk to the city gate and straight to APS bank corner. Turn on your right-hand side to Melita Street and then on your left-hand side to Merchant’s Street. Keep walking straight to St Dominic Church.
Duttrina
St Dominic’s Theatre – Merchant’s Street, Valletta
- Walk to the city gate and straight to APS bank corner. Turn on your right-hand side to Melita Street and then on your left-hand side to Merchant’s Street. Keep walking straight to St Dominic Church. Once here, one of our lovely volunteers will point you towards Duttrina which is right around the corner!
