Our interns are a vital part of the team, adding new ideas and perspectives to the Festival.
Being an intern is a fantastic opportunity for personal and professional development. As an intern you will develop new skills and meet new people who can share their knowledge and experience with you. During the Science in the City internship, you can work in a number of different areas which you can tailor together with your mentors to suit your interests and passions in a way that also allows you to be challenged, so that you can grow. This internship is a unique opportunity to promote an inspiring festival which celebrates innovation, active citizenship, inclusion, science and the arts.

Why pursue an internship with us?
An internship with the Science in the City team offers valuable experience in both science engagement and festival organisation. Interns gain insight into the many aspects of planning and delivering a large-scale festival, including communication, marketing, programming, logistics, coordination with partners, and audience engagement.
The role provides a unique opportunity to see how scientific ideas are transformed into accessible, inclusive events that bring together diverse communities. By working behind the scenes, as well as during the festival itself, interns develop practical skills in event management while contributing to a programme that celebrates science, creativity, and collaboration.
The internship aims to challenge you in ways that encourage growth, both professionally and socially. It strengthens critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork skills.

We provide a supportive environment for sharing ideas, learning from others, and feeling part of a collective effort toward a common goal. We welcome interns all year round. Although we launch an official call in the winter to recruit our spring and summer interns, we are open to receiving applications throughout the year via the Erasmus+ programme

For those interested in an Erasmus+ experience, please know you need to first register on the Erasmus+ online portal. We have internships that range from 3 to 6 months, but we are open for other durations as well.

We’d love to hear from you! Join our team and help bring a national science and arts festival to life. From creative content and workshops to event logistics and on-the-ground coordination, you’ll be part of every step. Conditions: 40 hr week with more hours during the week of the festival.
Expenses we cover: We provide a monthly stipend to interns of 850 euro. A one-time lump sum of 500 euro, as a contribution towards travel costs, may also be granted to internationally based interns when funding is available.
