SitC goes to school

The goal of the game is to promote STEAM careers by providing students with role models as they prepare to choose their subjects for the coming years. During the activity, students will have the chance to interact with researchers in their own school. They will try to guess which researcher works in which scientific field, but there’s a twist! Some words will be TABOO, and students must use their creativity and problem-solving skills to ask the right questions to get the answers they need.

Researchers will also be challenged as they cannot use the TABOO words when answering. This fun, interactive Q&A session will give students a deeper understanding of the researchers’ work, how they got to where they are, and how their scientific fields relate to everyday life. After the Q&A, the researchers will lead exciting experiments and demos for the students to enjoy.

What ties all STEAM fields together is the focus on solving problems and creating new knowledge, and in that, there is something for everyone. This event holds incredible value for students: we hope it will inspire them to pursue a career in science, highlight the importance of STEAM in daily life, and debunk misconceptions about research and gender roles. We work towards highlighting the importance of JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) values in this game, ensuring gender balance and diversity when we select the researchers. Current students’ future success in STEAM fields is necessary to ensure a better future for this planet and society as a whole.
