Turn Off the Lights, Turn On the Sky

Come and discover what Malta could look like if we turned off the lights.

What happens when the lights go out? The stars and nature come back to life.

In this interactive workshop conducted by local researcher Prof. Joseph Caruana, the NGO Birdlife Malta and the artist Pep Walls, you will discover how light pollution affects your health, wildlife, and the night sky. Through engaging discussions and hands-on activities, you will explore how excessive artificial lighting disrupts ecosystems, impacts birds, fish, and insects, and hides the beauty of the stars.

This eye-opening experience delivers a simple yet powerful message: by turning off the lights, you turn on the sky. You’ll leave inspired to rethink the way we light our nights and discover how small changes in your everyday life can help protect biodiversity while bringing back the stars.
