How can nature help make our schools and cities cooler, greener, and more resilient? Join the Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development, University of Malta, and discover how research is helping communities reimagine urban spaces through Nature-based Solutions (NBS). Based on the lessons learned from the Nature-Based Solutions for Urban Resilience (NBSUR) project, this interactive stand invites children, parents, caregivers,, educators and the wider community to become co-designers of the sustainable schools of the future.

Through a fun, hands-on, gamified activity, visitors will explore real urban challenges such as extreme heat, flooding, and biodiversity loss, and work together to create innovative nature-based solutions for school environments. Drawing on research conducted in collaboration with schools, communities, and over 200 children across Malta, participants will experience how co-creation can empower citizens of all ages to shape healthier and more climate-resilient places.

We invite you to discover how green infrastructure, urban biodiversity, and community action can transform everyday spaces while contributing to climate action and wellbeing. Whether you’re a young explorer, a curious parent, or an educator looking for inspiration, this activity will show how research can help us resist environmental challenges and reimagine a sustainable future, one idea at a time!
