Age Suitability: All Ages
Explore the different layers of the seabed by walking through this interactive art installation on the stairs leading up to Hastings. Walk through our papier-mache recreation of the Mediterranean seabed and see what happens when you touch the bottom of the sea!
A collaboration between Prof Aaron Micallef (Geosciences), Glen Calleja (Multimedia artist) and Paolo Gatti (Electro-acoustic sound engineer), this installation ticks all the boxes. This combination of science and arts will be a representation of Prof Micallef’s work on mapping the Mediterranean seabed, an exhibit of creativity and imagination, the product of letting one’s mind play around with music, materials and science.
Paolo Gatti will be synthesising electro-acoustic music to spark your imagination about all that can be found under the sea. Glen Calleja will be taking this a step further with his visual installations, giving you an insight into what the seabed, as well as all the marine life that can be found within it, really look like. Combine the two and get an artistic installation which responds to your touch! Make your own music or let others take the lead, step back and relax to all the sounds of the sea.
Professor Micallef’s work is supported by Vision2020 and ERC=Science which aims to promote ERC Grantees and projects funded by the European Union.
