I’m not sure about YOU, but I definitely wish I could be more creative. The million dollar (ok Euro but it doesn’t sound as good) question is how?
Jazz is arguably one of the most creative genres of music, since jazz musicians need to think on their feet to spontaneously improvise music on the go. Past research has indicated that jazz musicians show higher divergent thinking abilities, even when compared to musicians with other types of training. Can the positive effects of jazz music on creativity also be experienced by people who are not jazz musicians?
A collaboration between Science in the City, The Edward de Bono Institute and the jazz trio, Stretta Swing, led by local musician Diccon Cooper, will be investigating this question. So pop over to Palazzo Parisio for the Creative Jam! But be warned, you will have to get involved and get your hands dirty. What’s the point of a science and arts festival if you can’t join in the experiment?
