2018 - Science is Culture
The 2018 edition of Science in the City focused on the theme “Science is Culture”, exploring the strong relationship between scientific research, creativity and the cultural world. Taking place during Valletta’s year as the European Capital of Culture and the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the festival highlighted how science has shaped our history, traditions, identities and everyday experiences.
The theme explored the role of science in understanding and preserving cultural heritage, addressing social and environmental challenges, and inspiring innovation within the creative sectors. By combining research with different art forms such as theatre, music, performances, exhibitions and interactive installations, Science in the City aimed to engage new audiences and present science in imaginative and accessible ways.
