Showcase of the exciting scientific research at the University of Malta, and elsewhere in Malta, for discussion with Members of Parliament, and for later viewing by the general public.
Science in the House is the official opening event of Science in the City, European Researchers’ Night. The event promotes science policy reform, co-operation and networking between research scientists, Representatives of the House and Members of Parliament. The format is a media exhibition showcasing the exciting scientific research at the University of Malta, and elsewhere in Malta. The event, inaugurated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, takes place in the Parliament Building. Following opening comments by distinguished guests, the Speaker and Members of Parliament tour the exhibition and engage in discussion with scientists and research students. The exhibition remains on display during the evenings of Science in the City and Notte Bianca for viewing by parliamentarians and the general public including students, parents and tourists.
As part of the exhibition, there will also be the Young Scientists Area, where the work of nine emerging researchers will be exhibited. Their work ranges from brain-computer interfaces to work for our first space mission to molecular biology to auxetics. This is to encourage and inspire all other researchers working on cutting edge research at the University of Malta, of which these are only a select few.
