Trust Me is a performance based on testing the limits of balance. It is choreographed in an elevated, confined space. The dancers trust each other and manipulate and guide one another through the movements while blinded. If they make a mistake they will fall. Their confidence in each other needs to develop and strengthen if they are to succeed in sharing this 2m by 2m platform and performing this dance successfully.

The performance is based on the scientific Romberg’s test, used in an exam of neurological function, and also as a test for drunken driving. The exam is based on the premise that a person requires at least two of the three following senses to maintain balance while standing: proprioception (the ability to know one’s body in space); vestibular function (the ability to know one’s head position in space); and vision (which can be used to monitor [and adjust for] changes in body position).

Will they trust or fall?
